L.G.R INTERVIEW

Elegance, refinement, high quality, and great determination: these are the key points of the work of Luca Gnecchi Ruscone, founder of the brand of eyewear deluxe L.G.R. That continues to surprise its customers with unique collections and collaborations.

What is fashion for you?

It is the art through which you can express your being, your taste, and your feelings. Often today, in this globalized and highly media world, we tend towards mass fashion standardization. And this is happening more and more quickly because information runs much faster, thanks to the internet and social media. I try not to be contaminated by these phenomena trying to maintain my lucidity and my only vision of the world.

When and why did you start your brand?

I founded my brand in 2008, after a trip to Africa with my grandfather visiting the old Italian colonies of Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Somalia. In some abandoned warehouses that belonged to my grandfather, I found a warehouse full of colonial glasses. The beauty and sophistication of these forgotten objects immediately struck me. It was love at first sight! I immediately realized a thin thread that connected all this beauty: adventure, craftsmanship, Italian design, authenticity, simplicity, durability, and quality. So I decided to enclose all these values in a brand. So L.G.R.

Where do you get your inspiration?

I take inspiration from everything around me and the memory of my past, and my vision of the future. I am thinking of creating useful products to meet my customers' practical needs and complete a specific aesthetic look.

Upcoming projects?

We have some collaborations coming out of which I still can't name names: an exclusive model, in partnership with a niche brand of super chic women's jackets. And the second is The Photographer's Edition in collaboration with a super cool photographer and jet set, like Slim Aarons. Finally, a limited edition for Canadair pilots, who every summer save and preserve our territory through their epic aeronautical stunts. Will donate a sum useful for reforestation in the Italian area with each pair of glasses sold.
